Douglas Barrowman - Chairman

Chairman and Founder, Douglas Barrowman is the driving force behind the highly successful and dynamic Knox group of companies. A Chartered Accountant by profession, Douglas is an experienced businessman who has spent his entire career successfully investing in businesses and real estate. Having worked for the international private equity firm 3i in the late 1980s, he left to set up his own corporate finance practice, which he successfully developed and managed during the 1990s. He sold the practice in 1999 to concentrate on his own private investment vehicle Aston Ventures.

Over the next 10 years, Aston Ventures made 13 acquisitions of old economy businesses with a total turnover in excess of £400 million. Since 2008, Douglas has focused on developing the Knox group of companies that now collectively employs 300 staff and has funds under management and administration of £1.5billion.

Jeremy Franks - CEO Private Clients

Jeremy Franks joined the Knox group of companies in October 2016 as Deputy Chairman with responsibility for Knox Private Office. Jeremy joined from UBS Wealth Management where he was Managing Director, Head of UK Wealth Planning Advisory and UK Head of Clients and Products Tax. During his time with UBS, nearly 12 years, he worked with family offices, entrepreneurs, hedge fund and private equity principals and assisted them with all aspects of their wealth planning needs.

Prior to working at UBS, Jeremy worked at PWC in their Entrepreneurs and Private Clients and their Tax Technical Teams.

Jeremy is a Chartered Tax Adviser and holds the Advanced Planning Certificates. He sits on the Chartered Institute of Taxation’s (CIOT) Technical Committee for capital gains tax and investment income. He has represented the CIOT and British Bankers Association in consultations with HMRC and HM Treasury. Jeremy is a regular speaker at Private Client Conferences and has frequently provided press comment.

Luke Webster - Managing Director

Luke Webster is the Managing Director of Knox Private Office. Luke is a UK qualified lawyer having trained at Nabarro with extensive corporate finance experience while working for Oriel Securities and the London Stock Exchange Group plc. Before joining the Knox group of companies, Luke worked for funds and family offices based in Asia and the Middle East. His experience spans M&A, legal, fund raising, IPOs, start-ups, direct investment, corporate governance and project management.

Luke has built a large network of professional contacts in London, Hong Kong and Beijing and has extensive experience of advising family offices and entrepreneurs across a number of competencies.

He is a trusted adviser to family offices, entrepreneurs, funds and high net worth individuals in the UK, Middle East and China.

Tim Eve – Director

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance, Tim Eve qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996. Utilising his vocational training, Tim embarked on a career in Private Equity. His early career focused on advising the owner managed business sector and he successfully led a number of high profile acquisitions and disposals.

In 2004, Tim joined the Knox group of companies’ private equity company as a Partner. He has, over the course of the following decade, been heavily involved in sourcing, completing and managing transactions. In 2014, Tim was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Knox group of companies. Holding Board directorships on many of the Knox group of companies, he assists with their good running, devising and implementing strategy and where appropriate leading on key acquisitions.

Arthur Lancaster - Director

Arthur Lancaster is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser. After qualification Arthur joined Deloitte Haskin & Sells, which became Coopers & Lybrand, initially working in the Private Client and Entrepreneurs Division where he provided tax advice to many high profile clients. Arthur then worked in their Corporate Finance Division where he advised on MBOs, listings and other corporate transactions.

In 1996 Arthur joined Ernst & Young, Isle of Man, and was appointed Head of the tax department and a Director of the trust company. In 2003 Arthur was invited to head up a newly formed Isle of Man Family Office. After successfully dealing with the transfer of the founding family’s affairs from their previous advisers, he built the company into a leading prosperous trust company.

In 2011 Arthur joined the Knox Group of companies, having worked as an adviser to the founder for nearly 20 years. Arthur helped to establish the fiduciary services business and the UK based tax consultancy. Arthur is now Senior Partner of the UK tax practice and focuses on the provision of tax advice to UHNW clients and their UK businesses.

Andra Ilie - Associate Director

Andra works closely with international families, supporting them in managing their businesses, their investments and understanding their aspirations. Her team take a holistic approach when advising their clients, typically focusing on longer term succession planning and family governance. Once articulated, these family goals are then built into Andra’s straightforward and practical advice, often concerning complex questions of cross border businesses and family dynamics.

In 2012 Andra graduated with a BSC in Business Management from the University of Surrey and went on to start her career at Deloitte, in the Private Client Services Team. She spent four years at Deloitte, mostly advising non-UK domiciled ultra-high net worth individuals on structuring their complex international tax affairs. Her clients ranged from creatives and entrepreneurs, particularly in the tech space, to large families, often with challenging dynamics and the need to navigate specific needs.

Andra is ACA qualified and has experience of working in a financial management role for a leading international luxury hospitality chain. She is particularly passionate about using her experience and drive to help entrepreneurs balance their business goals and family needs.


Anthony Page - Fiduciary & Family Offices Services

Anthony Page has spent most of his near 20 year career in the offshore fiduciary environment, much of which has been in senior management roles in both Guernsey and the Isle of Man. He has considerable experience of managing a multi-jurisdictional portfolio of structures on behalf of a number of high net worth individuals, families and corporate entities.

Anthony is the Managing Director of the Knox group of companies’ regulated Fiduciary business. Since 2014 he has headed up the Family Office with a specific focus on the acquisition, maintenance and enhancement of assets. Asset classes are varied and globally based, spanning commercial and residential property, superyachts, aircraft, classic cars, artwork, jewellery and watches, and more traditional holdings such as cash and investment portfolios. Anthony is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and holds a diploma in International Trust Management.

John Greenwood – Discretionary Fund Management

John Greenwood is CEO of the Knox group of companies’ Discretionary Investment Company and is also responsible for the Fund Solutions and Financial Advisory Businesses. John’s passion for investing began at just nine years old, after learning about redemption yields from his father. This conversation would mark the start of a successful investment career spanning 30 years – culminating in the establishment of an award winning Investment boutique in 2010. John’s professional investment journey began in 1986, when he was offered a key position in the Isle of Man office of Coutts & Co, as a Fixed Interest and FX specialist. Following positions heading up Thomas Miller Investment and Jardine Matheson,

John currently leads a team that has been publicly recognised for their ability to deliver the perfect investment management service for the Ultra High Net Worth private client.

John Greenwood

Joseph Samuel – Discretionary Fund Management

Joseph Samuel studied at King’s College London, graduating with honours in 2000, and now has more than 15 years broad experience in the legal and financial sectors. He has grown, re-structured and co-ordinated a number of funds, investment vehicles, teams and departments, with full P&L responsibility and an excellent track record. A key element of this work has been doing business internationally, with business trips across five continents to more than 50 countries, and clients in more than 150.

Joseph is the Managing Director of the Knox Group of companies’ Discretionary Fund Manager in London, helping to grow and service the client base. His previous focus was on structuring, advising on and raising capital for investment funds, primarily in the Alternative sector, and he continues this work via his separate consultancy role within the Knox Group, offering advice to new and boutique funds and other investment vehicles.

Stewart Quayle – Fund Solutions

Stewart Quayle has worked in the offshore financial services sector for over 25 years. He initially worked as a project manager in various departments of Natwest Offshore, before becoming Head of Sales at Abbey International – Santander Isle of Man. He then took up the position of Relationship Director of the Bank of Ireland before progressing to establish a bespoke comparison website providing products for the Independent Financial Adviser market. Stewart is the Managing Director for a leading fund distribution service that is part of the Knox group of companies and he promotes all aspects of the distribution proposition and targets new areas for potential development, in an ever expanding business.

Ed Ogden – Financing Solutions

Ed Ogden has spent over 30 years in the banking industry with over 15 years in senior management roles, predominantly with regional director responsibility and focus. He is a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and has extensive experience and knowledge that covers all aspects of corporate finance and banking. Ed has worked with the Knox group of companies for the past few years sourcing, structuring and raising finance for a diverse range of asset acquisitions for both corporate and private clients. He is the Managing Director of the Knox group of companies’ financing solutions consultancy business.

Mark Lyons – Property & Private Equity Transactions

Mark Lyons has over 12 years transactional experience in both corporate and real estate situations. Having obtained his Chartered Accountancy qualification at PricewaterhouseCoopers and enjoyed a period in corporate finance advisory, Mark joined the Knox group of companies in 2007 to assist in the growth of the firm’s portfolio of businesses. Latterly Mark has focused on real estate transactions.

Mark takes responsibility for financial appraisal, transaction management and deal structuring on real estate and private equity transactions.

An experienced real estate investor and developer, Tim Keig has specialised in the origination, syndication and management of real estate investments for over 25 years. Tim’s career has spanned European, Asian and Middle East markets where he has significant experience in the development of residential and commercial real estate. Tim is Managing Director of the Knox group of companies’ real estate development business and is currently focusing efforts on the Dubai market where he and his team have secured a pipeline of development deals totalling 6 million square feet with a market value in excess of USD $1.3bn.

James Porter joined the Knox group of companies in 2015. With over 18 years of experience in the offshore corporate services industry working for 2 large international corporate service providers, James advises international entrepreneurs, expatriates, high net worth individuals and professional intermediaries on all aspects of corporate structuring, specialising in aircraft and yacht ownership, management, registration services, VAT planning and EU importation and exportation services.

John Horler – Tax Investigations

John Horler is the Managing Director of the Knox group of companies’ Tax Investigations company. John has over 25 years of experience undertaking tax investigations and enquiries of all types. He is an ex-Inspector of Taxes with more than 10 years’ experience, working in local districts, the Large Business Service (LBS) and latterly within Specialist Investigations (SI). John has worked extensively on all types of enquiries from Hansard, or Code 9, now renamed Contractual Disclosure Facility cases or CDF, through Code of Practice 8 cases, to local compliance cases within local offices or Large & Complex or High Net Worth Units (HNWU). John can also assist with cases under the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility (LDF), and the new Swiss and Offshore Island Disclosure routes.

Oliver Shuttleworth - Fine Art

Oliver Shuttleworth is a fine art consultant with over 17 years of experience in the trade. He has extensive knowledge of both auction house and gallery business practices. After eight years at Sotheby’s London, followed by four years at a leading Mayfair gallery and art broker, Oliver Shuttleworth Fine Art was founded in 2014. Oliver has brokered over $40m in works of art including the acquisition of paintings by artists as diverse as Claude Monet, Rene Magritte and Pierre Soulages.
